Parent Advisory Board Structure and Officers
Who’s Who and What’s What
A Guide to your
Parent Advisory Board
2008-2009 Term
Jessica Dombek
PAB President
I head up the Parent Advisory Board which also entails being a voting member on, and your liason to, the Board of Directors. My husband, Mike, and I have two sons Bo, 5, (Robin's community) and Jack, 3, (Janet's community). We have been with CBMS since Bo started in Toddler 1 three years ago. We live in Summergrove and have been living here in Newnan since the summer of 2002. I love photography, have a new-found interest in painting and drawing, and I enjoy outdoor cycling. Before I moved to Georgia, I trained for and completed a 7-day ride across Montana. It was one of the most amazing journeys. These days if you see me on my bike, it is with my two boys in tow in the bike trailer. You'll see me a lot on campus, so stop me anytime and say hello, give me your feedback and share any concerns you have.
Melissa Hutchinson
PAB Secretary
My husband Jim and I have one son Jay (3) who is in Janet's community. Jim is a Coweta County native, and I have lived here since we were married 6 years ago. This will be our second year at CBMS. I am a pharmacist and work for CVS.
However, my favorite pastime is hanging out with my family. I am also an avid runner and enjoy kayaking and snow-skiing (a sometimes difficult hobbie to pursue when you live in middle Georgia).
Anne Smith
PAB Treasurer
My husband, Stephen, and I have two boys, Russell (4) in Ms. Erni's community, and Henry (2) who will start in Toddler 2 this fall. We've been a CBMS family for a year and a half and are so excited that both boys will be there this year! We've lived in Newnan for three years. Last fall, along with a partner, I started my own local CPA firm (Higgins & Smith). It's been a lot of work, but I love living and working in downtown Newnan and having the flexibility to spend time with my boys when thay need me!
Kim Robertson
Special Events Chair
My husband Al & I live in Moreland with our 3 children, Al (71/2), Reese (4) & Grant (2). We have enjoyed having our children at CBMS for the past 5 years and currently have Reese in Ms. Robin's Community. My hobbies are gardening & anything outdoors with my household of boys! I have a Masters degree in education and enjoyed teaching 3rd grade for 10 years. I'm currently a stay at home mom and looking foward to a great year at CBMS.
Elizabeth Pape
Volunteers Chair
I am a native Georgian, born in Atlanta. I attended Georgia Tech and received a BS in Biology (not what you would expect from there I know). Then I went on to get a Masters in Wildlife Biology from North Carolina State. I moved to Midway Atoll in the NW Hawaiian Islands to do research for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. I loved the islands and decided to move to Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. I lived there for 4 years, received my degree in massage therapy (what can I say I love school) and met my husband, Chris. We moved back here, close to family, 6 years ago. We have one daughter, Mikayla (3), in Ms. Robin's community. We have been with CBMS since Mikayla started Toddler ll in March 2007.
Beth Wagstaff
Fund-raising Chair
I am in charge of the following fund-raising efforts here at CBMS: Annual Fund – volunteers to help fund-raising chair kick-off and implement campaign to raise funds for CBMS; School T-Shirts -- Obtain shirt orders, contact screen printer, collect checks and forward to bookkeeping and distribute t-shirts through student mailboxes; Adult social — Spring 2009 (More info to come). My husband, Joe, and I have three sons Will, 19, (GaTech & 1st graduate of the school), Grant, 16 (Newnan High School & attended through the Elementary program) and John, 11, (Kathleen's community). We have been with CBMS since its inception. My mother was Carolyn Barron. We live in downtown Newnan and love being a part of the CBMS community. I am currently a District Sales Director for GSK and have a district that encompasses much of West Georgia and Eastern Alabama. I am a woman on the go. I love the lake and enjoy time traveling, reading, and relaxing.
Miranda Graham
Mentor Family Chair
We moved to Newnan (SummerGrove)
three years ago, after having lived in numerous other cities, including Chicago,
DC, Destin, Santa Monica and Dallas. We immediately fell in love with the area, and have put down strong roots here. My husband Jody is with Canongate Golf, our son Remy (5) is enjoying his third year at CBMS (in Ms. Robin's community), and daughter Millie (3) is just starting her second year (new to Ms. Janet's room). I ran a mergers and acquisitions consulting firm prior to moving here, and enjoy photography and writing.
I spearhead the Mentor Family program for CBMS. The program pairs up new families with established CBMS families, with the goal of helping new students and their families adapt to and enjoy their Montessori experience. Please contact me any time if you'd like to get more involved with CBMS! As my mother always said, "You only get out of something what you put into it." You'll enjoy being involved!
Cindy Whitley
Appreciation Chair
I will work with all Chairpersons
to help coordinate food provisions and set-up for several events throughout the school year. I will also help with Staff Appreciation Luncheons and I am in charge of the Wish Tree. My husband's name is Pete and this will be our second year at CBMS. We have two daughters. Charlotte(age 4) is in Ms. Janet's community and Lane (age 2) will be new to Primary this year. Our home is in Sharpsburg so we enjoy the best of Newnan and Peachtree City. I guess we've lived here since 2002. My absolute favorite outdoor activity is backpacking, but lately, my focus has been on running and road cycling. If you like to cook and bake, or just help in general, please give me a call!
Kristin Skelly
PAB/ Ex- Officio
As the Ex- Officio (which is a fancy title for "last year's PAB/MPO president") serve as an advisor to the current officers and help out in whatever capacity they may need me. My husband, Greg, and I have a 4 year old, Keirnan, in Miss Janet's community. This is our third year at CBMS, and we are excited that Keirnan is beginning a new stage as an "afternooner." As the Director of Programming for Canongate Golf Clubs, I am always planning an event of some sort and especially look forward to our CBMS events throughout the year. In a family dominated by two sports fanatics our lives revolve around golf, soccer, LSU football, and hockey throughout the year. We currently call Summergrove home and have been in the Newnan area for over 4 years. Looking forward to seeing you around
campus- please let me know if I can be of help in any way!
