Our
Mission
The Mission of the Carolyn Barron Montessori School is to increase the
availability of Montessori education to the children of Coweta-Fayette
regional area, and to nurture the physical, academic, and spiritual growth
of its students to enable them to become productive members of the communities
of the world.
Our
Objectives
The objective of the Carolyn Barron Montessori School is to provide a
carefully planned, stimulating environment which will assist the enrolled
students to develop within themselves the foundational habits, attitudes,
skills, and ideas which are essential for a lifetime of creative thinking
and learning.
The specific
goals for the enrolled students are:
- To develop a positive
attitude toward school and learning
- To develop a sense
of high self-esteem
- To build a habit
of concentration for lifelong study skills
- To develop and
foster an abiding curiosity
- To develop habits
of initiative and persistence
- To foster inner
discipline and a sense of order
- To develop sensory
and motor skills so as to sharpen the ability to discriminate and judge
- To develop socially
acceptable behavior
- To help develop
each student's innate, ultimate potential through high self-expectations
Accreditation
CBMS is recognized by The Association Montessori Internationale as a Primary
Montessori School. AMI is the oldest and most prestigious Montessori organization
in the world (see www.montessori-ami.org). All faculty members have teaching
certification from AMI or AMS (the first and most widely recognized American
Montessori organization). These certifications, which represent a year
of graduate work, provide the most thorough preparation in Montessori
theory and practice.
School
Structure
CBMS is a non-profit educational corporation (501c3). As such it fosters
a community spirit in it's families who invest their time, talent and
financial support. It is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of
current and past parents, as well as other community leaders. The Board
is responsible for the overall welfare of the school, including budget
approval, tuition rates, fundraising, school policies and goals. The Board
hires the CEO, the Director of Academics and the Business Manager who are responsible
for programs, staffing and day to day operations. The Parent Advisory Board (PAB) organizes the special events and family socials for
the school. |
